Welcome – Here to help.

About Shiatsu

Shiatsu is a traditional “hands on” Japanese therapy which can help with a wide range of conditions, such as

Sports injuries, Skin conditions, Respiratory complaints,Anxiety Stress and Trauma.

Pre and post performance Shiatsu can support the work of both Horse and Rider.

As a Shiatsu practitioner I work on the principle of unblocking ki (energy) as it flows along defined pathways of the body.

It is sometimes known as acupuncture without the needles as it is based on meridians and points.

Shiatsu means “finger pressure” and application techniques include massage, stretching and pressure on specific areas which aims to work on the individual as a complete being – not just the physical body but also on an emotional and mental level, whether working on Horses or Humans. Thus it can be beneficial for general health of both Horses, Ponies and Riders.

It is deeply relaxing and if received regularly will help reduce the stresses and strains of any work you or your horse are undertaking.

You will need to let your Vet know if I work on your horse. We work in support of your Vet and other practitioners.

So How Long will a Shiatsu session take?

A Shiatsu massage for your horse will take approximately one hour, prior to which you will be asked about your horse’s health to enable me to build up a case history, whilst treatments for you are seated and will take approximately thirty minutes.

About Me:

Alison Grove Dip.SES.

I live in the lovely harbour town of Watchet in West Somerset.

My work area  covers Somerset, Devon and North Cornwall.

I used to be a Facilities Manager for over forty years but I just knew I wanted to work with Horses and their riders, so whilst still working full time and running the family home I trained to become a Shiatsu practitioner.

I qualified with the Bristol School of Shiatsu in 2005 and have graduated as an Equine Practitioner from The School of Equine Shiatsu, West Sussex in March 2013 with 98% for my case study work on Horses in Australia, Wales and England.

I am a member of the Equine Shiatsu Association (tESA) which exists to publicise the benefits of shiatsu and support us both during and after our training.

I  will work on all types of horses and ponies to include;Race Horses, Polo Ponies, Event , Endurance Horses, Hunters,Le Trec etc as well as your family pet.

I am passionate about my work. The beneficial outcomes experienced by former recipients  and seen in the  horses I have had the privilege to help has been truly wonderful and I look forward to trying to help you and, or your Horse.
